Melanie Sue has written everything from blog posts and erotica to flash fiction and short story horror. Her passion is creepy stuff and a good blood splatter scene makes her smile. Seeing The Exorcist in theaters as an infant probably had a hand in her obsession.
She calls to ghosts in her house, reads tarot, and has a rock collection. When she isn't out camping and looking for cool bugs, she's working on her novella, which could turn into a novel if her protagonist doesn't be quiet.

911 OPERATOR: 911, what is your emergency?
RAMIREZ: My name is Rodrigo Ramirez. I’m in Bull Valley. I hit something with my vehicle. I need an ambulance here immediately.
911: You hit a person with your vehicle?
RAMIREZ: Yes. I mean, I think so.
911: Okay. I got you on Cherry Valley Road near Stickney. Is that correct?
RAMIREZ: I don't know the streets. If you’re tracing me, yes.
911: Yes, I'm working on that.
RAMIREZ: You need to get here immediately.
911: Yep. Stay on the line. Is he conscious and breathing?
RAMIREZ: Hold on, the signal is spotty. I had to move into the ditch. Yes, he is. He’s hurt bad.
911: Where are his injuries?
RAMIREZ: Looks like his legs, well, his legs…why are there so many? They’re on the road, but the rest of his body is farther away on the grass.
911: We’re getting the first responders paged out. Confirm your name for me.
RAMIREZ: My name is Rodrigo Ramirez.
911: With a “Z”? And you’re at 886-0743?
RAMIREZ: Yes
911: Stay on the line with me, okay?
RAMIREZ: Should I move him? Or the parts of him in the road?
911: Nope. We're going to leave him there. You said his legs are attached to his body, right?
RAMIREZ: No, they’re all separated. He is disconnected. I knew he was a creature of some sort, but I have no idea how it’s half a man now.
911: You said he is moving?
RAMIREZ: Yes. His body is moving… and his legs are over there moving, too. Should I move my vehicle? Block the road or something?
911: No, just stay on the line.
RAMIREZ: I got nothing else to do. (chuckles)
RAMIREZ: ( Inaudible. )
911: Hello?
RAMIREZ: Sorry, I moved and lost the signal. Ma’am? Am I going to prison?
911: We're not worried about that at this point. We want to make sure we get help there, to help that person out, okay?
RAMIREZ: Well, you aren't worried about it.
911: Right now it's a medical emergency. So what happened? Like, how did this happen?
RAMIREZ: It's hard to explain. I was trying to escape him. He got on my vehicle and I couldn't get him away. I, I..
911: Okay, let's back up. You tried to escape from him?
RAMIREZ: Yes.
911: He got into your vehicle?
RAMIREZ: No, not into my vehicle, on the hood of my vehicle. Couldn't get him away from me. He was threatening me. He was saying something like, “I thought you was part of us.” He was calling other guys to come get me. And I just wanted to get out. I was scared. Before he jumped on my vehicle, I swear he was an animal, a creature. Thought I was seeing things. I never, never meant to hurt him. Just wanted to get out of there.
911: Okay, do you know him?
RAMIREZ: No, I don't know him, don't know who he is. We were at County Days and I noticed some guys following us.
911: Where was this? Is someone with you?
RAMIREZ: At the park, look it up.
911: Okay, who is with you?
RAMIREZ: He’s still on the road…and the ditch. What’s taking so long?
911: You said, “We were at County Days…”
RAMIREZ: Yes! Look it up. Look, I don’t see any lights. Should I turn on my headlights or flashers or something? Where are they? He’s moaning now. I don’t want to go to prison or anything. We need police here, too.
911: The first responders should be there any minute. I also have police on the way.
RAMIREZ: Good. I… because he was calling people. When he jumped on my vehicle, he was yelling at me and on the phone. He might have people coming. I don’t know. I don’t feel safe.
911: So you said he jumped on your vehicle?
RAMIREZ: No, not on my vehicle. He ran in front of my vehicle. He wouldn’t let me leave. He said he thought I was one of them. Crazy stuff.
911: Okay. This started at the park? Then what?
RAMIREZ: (inaudible)
911: Hello?
RAMIREZ: Sorry, I was checking on him. He’s mumbling. Bleeding bad. We covered his…body. Sorry, I keep losing the signal. I see flashers coming. Is that them?
911: They’re close. What kind of vehicle do you have?
RAMIREZ: It’s a black Toyota 4Runner. It’s really dark out here. I’m going to turn on the hazards.
911: That’s fine. You said “we”. Who else is with you?
RAMIREZ: Just me.
RAMIREZ: (Inaudible) Hello? Hello? Sorry, someone just pulled up. He has flashers… said he’s a local EMT, Justin Buford?
911: Can I speak with him? Can you give him your phone?
RAMIREZ: Sure, sure. (inaudible)
BUFORD: This is Justin, I’m on the scene. I can see first responders coming in the distance, maybe five minutes?
911: Hi Justin, yes five minutes. You’re a local EMT? Can you see the victim?
BUFORD: YES, ID 105187. I am walking to him now.
911: Justin, are you on speaker?
BUFORD: Not on speaker. I can see the victim. Are there two?
911: He said one, but his story is strange.
BUFORD: This doesn’t look right. HEY! You can stay over there, Rodrigo.
911: Listen, Suspect kept referring to “we”. I don’t know if there is more than just the driver there or not. Also, I got two stories about how this happened.
BUFORD: Copy. Victim is bleeding pretty badly from his torso, unconscious. This blanket is…sticky. It’s …stuck to the ground, like a web or something.
911: Justin, officers 2 minutes out.
BUFORD: I can see legs… over there, moving. More legs than bodies. (inaudible) I don’t understand. He’s a large man. I can’t move him. My hand is stuck in this web blanket thing.
911: Justin? Tell me what’s going on.
BUFORD: (Inaudible) (Shuffling) Hey! Don’t! What are you!
911: Hello? Are you still there?
Call Ended.
