Maggie survived attempted murder a decade ago. Her killer is dead, but true crime superfans have ruined Maggie’s life. Moving to the Briarwood Estate in rural New Hampshire was supposed to be a fresh start for Maggie and her wife Wren.
When Maggie and Wren experience paranormal activity in estate, they struggle to find connections to one another. Maggie discovers she is clairvoyant and starts communicating with the ghost of a young woman named Laura whose murder in the estate remains unsolved. Maggie’s own experience as a victim motivates her to bring Laura’s killer to justice by being the voice that Laura never had. Struggling to maintain her sobriety and her marriage, Maggie must help Laura while discovering herself.
If Maggie fails, she could lose everything––her wife, her sobriety, her life.

Tell us about yourself.
I have always lived in rural New Hampshire. I love to travel and see new places, but living in the forest will always be home to me. I currently work in education. I just completed my M.F.A. earlier this year. I love showing young writers how to express themselves and see their passion for reading and writing bloom over time.
Why write horror?
Horror has always been an outlet for me. Whether I needed entertainment or I wanted to explore something scary, horror was there to satiate my needs. Personally, I write horror because it allows me to explore topics and themes that are too terrifying to want to deal with in the real world. Through the lens of the supernatural, creatures, and caught killers, my goal is to shed light on what women and people in overlooked communities experience every day.
What’s the scariest book you’ve ever read and why?
The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward is the first book that comes to mind. The twist in this absolutely destroyed me in the best way and made me rethink so much about the way humans behave.
What are you working on now?
I'm working on a story about a woman moving back to her childhood home with her daughter. Things seem fine until her daughter starts acting strange. It's a bit of the show Psychic Kids meets The Haunting of Hill House TV adaptation.
