My kids hated reading...

Hey horror lovers,

My kids weren't big readers.

Actually...

They hated reading.

So when I decided to write a children's series, I had a pretty specific audience in mind.

Kids like mine.

Kids who would rather be outside.

Kids who'd rather play a video game.

Kids who definitely weren't excited when someone told them it was time to read.

But there were things my kids did love.

Monsters.

Ghosts.

Strange creatures.

Secret places.

And stories where kids their own age got to do something incredible.

So I thought...

Why not put all of that into a book?

That's how Milo Jenkins Monster Hunter was born.

I created Milo and his friends to be kids kids could actually see themselves in.

Then I threw them into a world filled with monsters, ghosts, magical places and things that definitely shouldn't exist.

There are scares.

There are laughs.

There are monsters.

And there are plenty of moments where you might want to leave the bedroom light on.

But underneath all of that, I wanted the books to feel like an adventure.

The kind of adventure I wanted my own kids to get excited about.

And that's really why I wrote the series.

Not because my kids were already passionate readers.

Because they weren't.

I wanted to create a book that could make a reluctant reader forget they were supposed to be reading.

Because maybe the secret to getting a kid to love books...

isn't telling them they should read.

Maybe it's giving them a story they desperately want to find out what happens next.
