Hey horror lovers,

One thing I learned serving in the Canadian Armed Forces—and later as a police officer—is that your instincts often notice danger before your brain does.

It's hard to explain.

Nothing obvious has happened yet.

Nobody has thrown a punch.

Nobody has reached for a weapon.

The room is still quiet.

But something feels...

Wrong.

It's a feeling that settles in the pit of your stomach.

Maybe someone's body language changes.

It's about dread.

That slow, creeping certainty that something terrible is coming...

...even though you can't see it yet.

The footsteps upstairs.

The bedroom door that slowly creaks open.

The empty hallway that suddenly feels occupied.

That feeling is what I want readers to experience.

Because once dread gets hold of you...

Your imagination does the rest.
